Why does my timesheet lines report show Duration (Timesheet total hours) as a decimal rather than hours and minutes?
When you build and run a timesheet report, it shows the Duration (Timesheet total hours) time worked as a decimal fraction rather than in minutes and hours. This is done so the calculations are able to be correctly utilised when totalling the duration.
You can build a Timesheet report by going to:
Reporting > Report builder
In this example, 9.750 is nine and three quarter hours or nine hours forty five minutes, NOT nine hours seventy five minutes.
To convert the .75 decimal fraction to minutes, multiply .75 by 60 and you will get 45 minutes.
If you see an entry that shows 8.217 hours like this, then multiply .217 by 60 and you will get 13 minutes.
There are many web sites that can carry out Time to Decimal and Decimal Time to Minutes calculations if you need additional help.
