How to allow managers to view their whole organisation / entire downline
In many organisations, there are managers who not only manage employees but also manage managers as well. Some managers may only wish to see their direct reports, even if this means only the managers that report to them and not the employees that report to the managers.
Other managers may wish to see the managers that report to them as well as the employees that in turn report to the managers i.e. their entire downline. It is possible to allow managers to view and fully manage their whole organisational structure rather than just their direct reports. To do so is a two step process.
Firstly, as an admin level user you need to enable this for your company by going to
Administration > Company > Settings > Display settings
In the 'Manager view' section, select 'Entire downline' from the 'Managers view whole reporting line' option.
Once this is enabled, then individual managers can decide if they want to see their direct reports or their entire downline via Localisation in their profile drop down menu.
From the 'Organisational depth' option, the manager can choose to change to 'Entire downline' from the default 'Direct reports only' and vice versa.
To illustrate what both options mean, this is an example of what the manager will see with their 'My direct reports only' option selected. In this example, the manager can see the 9 managers and employees that report directly to them.
However, by enabling 'My entire downline', the manager will then be able to view and manage all 22 managers and employees, both direct and indirect report.
When the manager selects 'My entire downline' from the 'Organisational depth' option, a second option appears, 'Workflow and calendar depth'. From here the manager can choose 'My direct reports only' or 'My entire downline'.
With 'My direct reports only' selected, the manager will see only calendar entries and workflow tasks related to their direct reports
If the manager selects 'My entire downline' they will see calendar entries and workflow tasks for their entire downline, including their indirect reports. Here the manager can see
