Duplicating a workflow
Within Natural HR, the ‘Workflow Builder’ enables Administrator or HR users to create workflows.
When building a workflow, you might want to create one based on an already existing workflow. To this end, we have the ability to duplicate workflows. The "duplicated" workflow can then be edited and used as the basis for a new workflow.
If you are logged in as a HR user or administrator, you can access the Workflow Builder through:
Administration -> HR -> Workflows
The first step is to create a new blank workflow of the same type as the workflow you're duplicating. Both the Category and Type should match the workflow you intend to duplicate.
Click ‘Add’ and you will be brought to the Workflow Builder screen where you can enter the properties of your workflow. Once the mandatory fields are completed, you can submit the workflow. Remember, to make the workflow active in the system you need to ensure that the ‘Active’ field is set to ‘Yes’:
Once you have completed these fields, you will be presented with the workflow builder itself. We don't need to add any workflow steps here, as we'll be copying them from the original workflow.
Click the 'Cancel' button at the bottom of the page:
Once you have done this, steps from another workflow can be duplicated into it.
Return to the list of workflows in Workflow Builder, find the blank workflow you have created and click on the Actions button followed by "Duplicate steps from another workflow into this workflow":
This will bring you to the following screen:
Choose the workflow you want to duplicate from in the "Duplicate steps from" drop-down and click Submit. This will populate your new workflow with all of the steps from the original workflow.
For further information on building workflows in Workflow Builder please see our training videos available here: Workflows.
Please Note: duplicating a send new form or send existing form step into a new workflow will not pull across the form selected and will be blank therefore requiring selection before using the workflow.
