How do I create Asset categories and Asset types
Natural HR has an Asset management facility that allows you to organise and track your high value assets such as smartphones, computers and security access devices such as keyfobs by 'Asset category' and 'Asset type'. Failure to organise and keep track of these assets can prove to be a huge cost to the business if employees leave without returning assets that are purchased and owned by the company.
Creating an Asset category
In order to 'Check out' (assign) assets to employees, you must first create asset categories, such as ‘IT’. You can do this by going to:
Administration -> Company -> Settings -> Assets -> Asset categories
Once on the Asset categories page, click the ‘Add’ button and fill out the relevant fields. Note that assigning a ‘Parent’ would cause this category to be a sub-category of another.
After completing all the fields, click on 'Submit' and your Asset category has been created.
Creating an Asset type
After creating an Asset category, the next step is creating types of assets to have within this category. For the example of "IT", assets within this could be a mobile phone, laptop etc. To do this, go to:
Administration -> Company -> Settings -> Assets -> Asset types
Once you’re on the Asset types page, click the ‘Add’ button. Add an 'Asset type name' for the asset type and a description (optional), choose the 'Category' that the particular asset belongs to.
Click the 'Submit' button and the asset type is created.
