Optimising Natural HR
Within Natural HR, there are an abundance of various settings which allow you to enable and disable various modules and options, to customise the system to suit you.
Here are some tips on how to adjust some of the settings to enhance your Natural HR experience.
Disable unused modules
There are many modules available within Natural HR, some of which you may not wish to use. To disable these, go to
Administration -> Company -> Settings -> Display settings
Here, in the 'Module display' section you will be able check or un-check any of these modules which will disable the respective modules and reduce the menu items in the left menu on the page.
Customise your employee file view
To customise your employee file view, go to
Administration -> Company -> Settings -> Display settings
In the 'Employee module' you can choose if the employee’s information is displayed as a card, which will present an overview of various fields of information, or a table view containing various options. Click here for more information on the employee card and table views.
If 'Card' is selected in the 'Default employee module view', a series of check-boxes will appear allowing you to select the 'Employee card fields' which are displayed within the overview section of the employee card.
Setup the Employee portal
The employee portal allows employees to easily submit their requests, view the status of any outstanding or submitted requests and view or complete any outstanding tasks or requirements.
To enable the above employee portal, go to
Administration -> Company -> Settings -> Display settings
Then, scroll down to the 'Employee views' section and ensure that the 'Employee portal' field is set to 'Yes'.
Uploading employee’s photographs
Photographs of the employee can be added to their profile or uploaded by the user, to help to make their profile more personable; we also find that uploading employee photographs aids in creating a positive experience for New starters as they get to know the names of their new colleagues.
Employee’s photographs will be displayed on their employee profile, the employee directory and the organisation chart.

Sharing the Natural HR Calendar
A Natural HR user can share their Natural HR calendar with their email client e.g. Microsoft Outlook or Gmail calendar. The amount of information which can be viewed on this read only shared calendar will depend on the user group level of the user. For example, an administrator will see the Natural HR calendar entries for the entire company, but an employee user may only see their own entries on the shared calendar.
This is a read only view of an Natural HR calendar, for an admin group user, shared in Microsoft Outlook
and this is a view of an Natural HR calendar for an employee group user shared in Google calendar
If you would like further guidance on how to export the Natural HR Calendar into your email client please visit the Displaying calendar items on an external calendar including Outlook and Gmail article.
Form downloads using Field display label
By default, when downloading form responses from the Natural HR Form builder, the system will use the 'Field database name' which often contains underscores and other special characters and are generally less 'user friendly'.
Alternatively, you can download this form's responses data using the 'Field display label' option which is the name of the field on the form displayed to the end user. To update this setting, you will need to go to
Administration > Company > Settings > Company settings
In the 'Form settings' section, choose 'Field display label' from the 'Default form download label' option.
After clicking on 'Submit', downloading the responses of any forms into a CSV format will display using the field display label rather than the database name.
