Pushing Shutdown Days - "There is an error"
Sometimes when pushing Shutdown days to employees via
Time and attendance > Holidays
using the 'Push shutdown days' button, you may see an message saying "There is an error" or you may see that the days have been pushed, but not to all of the expected employees.
These errors can be primarily caused by 3 potential issues:
- A missing shutdown type within your time off types
- Multiple shutdown types within your time off types
- No appropriate employees matching your restrictions
Shutdown type issues
To use shutdown days, you will need a time off type which has 'Yes from individual allowance' selected from the 'Deduct from employee allowance' option.
Your time off types are created via
Administration > HR > Time off management > Time off types
In the Deduction settings section, select 'Yes' from the 'Shutdown type' option.
This relates to the time off balance that the shut down day will be booked against. In most cases this will correspond to your annual leave time off type however it can vary based on your company requirements.
When set to 'Yes', this designates the time off type as your Shutdown type and Natural HR will use this for the allocation of the pushed instances when using the 'Push shutdown days' option.
It is important to note that you can only have one shutdown type. If you have more than one of these the system will present the "There is an error" message. As such the first thing to check when experiencing this issue is your time off types.
In most cases this will resolve any "There is an error" messages.
Employees and Restrictions
The other potential issue is when restrictions are placed against your shutdown day. If for example you have a shut down day registered to only be available to a certain site then the "Push Shutdown Days" action will fail if your selected employees / metadata options do not have any matching employees to push these days against.
This also is the primary cause of Shutdown days pushing to less people than intended.
To ensure you do not experience problems like these please double check your restrictions before pushing your Shutdown days to ensure that any selections made fall within the appropriate restrictions.
