Working Pattern Templates
Sometimes you may want to apply working patterns to a number of employees instead of on a one by one basis. Creating a working pattern template will allow you to quickly assign these out to your users in one bulk action.
Generating a working pattern template is almost identical to creating a working pattern itself. More details on general working pattern setup can be found in our article "Working Patterns"
Creating a working pattern template
To create a working pattern template go to:
Administration > HR > Working Patterns
First of all you will see a list of any working pattern templates you have created, with an actions menu on the right hand side that will allow you to Publish, View, Edit or Delete your templates. We will cover the Publish option a little further on in this article.
To create a template click the "Add" button in the bottom left of the screen. This will then present a screen almost identical to creating a normal working pattern, with a few subtle differences at the top of the page.
Firstly you must give the template a name. You then have the option to choose whether you are using a duration based working pattern or whether you want to use a start/end time based template. To use a time based working pattern you will need to click the tick box below on the working patterns screen:
If this remains un-ticked the rest of the screen follows the same process as a normal working pattern. However if you tick the above box this will then change the display to allow you to enter start and end times for each day as shown below:
Once you have created your working pattern, click on 'Submit' at the bottom of the page. Once submitted you can then publish this working pattern to your users.
Assigning a working pattern template
There are 2 ways of assigning a working pattern template. The first is via the usual working pattern screen found on the employee card.
There is an option on this screen where you can select the appropriate working pattern template:
You can also bulk assign your working patterns by navigating to Administration -> HR -> Working patterns, once on this page press the action buttons and then publish. Clicking the publish icon will allow you to choose the employee or metadata select option which works in the same way as publishing a workflow or form. Once you have selected either the employee(s) or the appropriate meta data filters, the pattern will then apply to the appropriate selected employee records.
