Reporting goals using the Employee goals standard data source
Natural HR allows you to allocate individual goals to employees that they will be required to achieve by a certain date. The employee and their manager can view and update these goals and the manager can report on individual employee goals' progress via a dedicated Employee goals data source.
Click here for more information on how to create an Employee goal.
Once allocated, an employee will be able to log in to their self-service accounts via:
Self service -> My development -> My goals
and update their progress on the goal as well as enter comments.
You can choose how updates are added to the goal via
Administration -> Company -> Settings -> Company Settings
In the Performance management section you can choose Standard or Incremental from the 'Performance goal system' dropdown.
If you choose Incremental then you will be able to see each Incremental update and a history of all previous updates, if, as in this example, you choose Standard, then each Status update will overwrite the previous entry, so only the latest status will be shown.
To view these goals with their updates you can create a report by going to:
Reporting -> Report builder
Click on 'New report' then create a report using these settings (this is just an example, you can choose your own settings if you want to):
- Report type: Table
- Select a Data source: Employee goals - standard
- Select a report name: Employee goals - standard (suggested)
- Select a Report description: You can leave this blank
- Select fields (suggested):
-
- Employee ID
- First name
- Surname
- Goal name
- Goal status
- Goal target
- Select group by field: No group
- Select Aggregates: None
- Select order by fields: No order

You can then click on the 'Edit report' button followed by the 'View Report' button.
Here is the report containing the
- Goal name
- Goal status
- Goal target
- Employee ID for each Employee that has a goal set
- There are 34 entries or records in this report which contains all of the different goals (Goal name)
You can refine the report by adding a field to group by, aggregating a field, ordering data in specified columns and applying filters. These are suggested settings to your report by clicking on 'Edit report', in this example we are going to modify the report so that it just shows the standard goals for just one employee for FY19:
- Report type: Table (this cannot now be edited)
- Select a Data source: Employee goals - standard (this cannot now be edited)
- Select a report name: Mohammad Horton FY19 Quarterly £150K Targets
- Select a Report description: You can leave this blank
- Select fields (suggested, substitute values where necessary for your specific data):
-
- Employee ID

- Surname (remove, name included in title)
- Goal name
- Goal status

- The targets are grouped by the Goal name field.
- The goal status is listed here for each goal

Now click on 'Edit report' followed by 'View Report' to see the report. The report will look something like this:
- This report name shows the employee's first and last name, also what the quarterly targets were, in this case £150K per quarter and for the FY19 financial year.
- Each FY19 quarter is shown as a separate column.
- The 150K target line shows relative to each column/goal
- Because we set up the drilldown, clicking on any of the columns will display the drilldown data from the table we linked to. This may be particularly useful if the table contains more data that would otherwise not be available to show in the column chart.
