An employee can see their total TOIL allowance by clicking on the 'Total time off allowance breakdown' on their home screen. This employee is metered in days and their holiday allowance is allocated in days.
In this example, the employee's contracted working day is 7.5 hours. The TOIL allowance is displayed as 1.6 which is a decimal fraction of a working day, 12/7.5 = 1.6.

Booking TOIL time off
Before an employee is able to book time off in general, there are some settings that need to be configured by going to
Administration -> Company -> Time off settings (global)
In the 'Self service' section the following options need to be set:
Allow employees to enter timeoff days/hours - If you select 'Yes', employees will be able to enter the number of days or hours when entering time off.
Allow employees to specify AM/PM for half day bookings - Where an employee adds a 'Start' date and an 'End' date on the same day, the employee can specify if this is AM or PM.
Allow employees to request more days than allowance - If you select 'Yes', employees will be able to request more days or hours than their remaining allowance.
The employee can book time off using their time off in lieu allowance by going to
Self service -> My requests -> Time off
then clicking on 'Add' at the bottom of the screen, the employee can click on the TOIL time off type then add the 'Start' and 'End' dates.
Booking TOIL time for employees metered in days
In this example the employee wants to book a full day time off from their 1.6 Days TOIL allowance. The employee selects a 'Start' date and 'End' date on the same day. Because the start and end dates are on the same day, the employee can select 'All day', 'AM' or 'PM'. The employee selects 'All day' and 1 is displayed in the 'Duration' field. If the employee was to have selected AM or PM then the calculated duration would of been 0.5.
Once the employee has pressed Submit a banner will display across the top of the page stating "Your time off request has been successfully submitted".
If the employee receives an error message this will be caused by the employee not having enough allowance for the booking or already having a booking on the day(s) that have been requested.
